Cách hỏi và chỉ đường bằng Tiếng Anh
- Bắt đầu hỏi đường như thế nào

Tuy nhiên, trong bài viết ngày hôm nay, chúng ta sẽ cùng nhau đi qua 3 giai đoạn căn bản cho cách hỏi đường và chỉ đường trong giao tiếp tiếng Anh. Các cấu trúc và chi tiết khác của phần nội dung này chúng ta sẽ cùng tìm hiểu ở các bài viết sau này.
GIAI ĐOẠN 1: HỎI ĐƯỜNG
Khi bắt đầu hỏi đường là lúc bạn đang yêu cầu một sự giúp đỡ từ người khác. Bạn cần phải sử dụng cấu trúc câu đặc biệt lịch sự và trang trọng. Kèm theo đó, là những lời chào gây chú ý đối với đối phương. Hãy tham khảo các cách sau:
- Hello, would you please show me the way to the nearest post office?
- Hi, could you please tell me the way to Ben Thanh Market?
Hoặc nếu bạn không chắc về việc địa điểm mà mình tìm kiếm có ở khu vực của mình hay không, hãy dùng các mẫu câu sau:
- Is there any post office near here?
- Is there any coffee shop near here?
GIAI ĐOẠN 2: CHỈ ĐƯỜNG
Trong trường hợp bạn là người chỉ đường, dưới đây là điểm ngữ pháp cần lưu ý:
Bạn nên đưa ra các chỉ dẫn một cách dứt khoát bằng kiểu câu mệnh lệnh. Đây là dạng câu bắt đầu bằng động từ, không có chủ ngữ và nó mang ý nghĩa “ra lệnh” cho ai đó làm việc gì. Có thể hiểu nôm na rằng bạn đang “ra lệnh” cho ai đó phải đi theo hướng nào đó. Dạng câu này thường không được sử dụng trong các hội thoại giao tiếp tiếng Anh, nhưng lại đặc biệt được dùng trong trường hợp cần chỉ dẫn:
- Take the blue line.
- Continue going straight.
- Turn right at that corner.
Trong trường hợp bạn nhận được hướng dẫn chỉ đường, để chắc chắn rằng bạn đang hiểu đúng các hướng dẫn của người chỉ đường, hãy dùng câu hỏi HOW. Đây là dạng câu hỏi kèm với một loạt các tính từ dùng để hỏi thông tin chi tiết trong việc hỏi đường đi. Dưới đây là một số mẫu câu:
- How long from here?
(dùng để hỏi về thời lượng hoặc khoảng cách)
- How many coffee shops there?
(dùng để hỏi về số lượng)
Một số từ vựng và mẫu câu thường dùng để chỉ đường:
- Take a right/left
- Go straight
- Opposite
- Take the first/ second/ third right corner
- Go right/ left/ straight at the light/ corner/ stop sign
- Continue straight on
- Turn right/ left at the light/ corner/ stop sign
- Get on the bus/ subway at 12th Ave./ Whitman Street/ Yellow Lane
- Follow the signs for the museum/ exhibition center/ exit
- Turn left into … Street

GIAI ĐOẠN 3: KẾT THÚC HỘI THOẠI
Trong trường hợp bạn là người được chỉ đường, trước khi kết thúc hội thoại hãy chắc chắn rằng mình đã hiểu rõ các chỉ dẫn. Sau đó nói lời cảm ơn với người đã chỉ đường cho mình.
